The Challenge

Culinary Art in Downtown Located in Boulevard Heights, right in the pulse of Downtown Dubai, Askim Restaurant needed to stand out in one of the city's most competitive dining landscapes. The challenge was to transform a standard retail shell into a soulful, atmospheric dining destination. As a Turnkey Contract, Mouhajer International Design (MIDC) was responsible for the entire lifecycle, from the initial spatial planning to the final table setting. The project required a rigorous 9-month execution (Dec 2022 – Sep 2023) to deliver a fully operational restaurant that met the strict technical guidelines of the Boulevard Heights management while creating a warm, inviting customer experience.

Our Approach

A Sensory Experience Our approach was to balance "Instagrammable" aesthetics with industrial-grade functionality

Atmospheric Design: We designed the interiors to be a visual retreat from the busy Boulevard. Using a blend of natural textures, ambient lighting, and bespoke seating, we created a space that feels intimate yet vibrant, perfect for the transition from day-time cafe culture to evening dining. Technical Integration: F&B projects live and die by their utilities. We meticulously planned the "back-of-house" flows to ensure the kitchen and service areas were efficient and invisible to the guest. Turnkey Execution: Managing the joinery, metalwork, and civil works in-house allowed us to maintain high quality control over the custom decorative elements that give Askim its unique character.
